A Brief Explanation of Asthma
Asthma is one of respiratory diseases which quite troublesome. It is also a chronic disease which is hard to cure completely. As of today, almost 300 million people in all over the world are suffering this disease. Most asthma cases are hereditary. Parents who have asthma will have a higher chance of having children suffering asthma. Patients who suffaer the asthma usually carry several symptoms such as coughing, chest tightnaess, shortness of breath, and blocked airways. Asthma causes the airways blocked, therefore, the patients cannot have the oxygen to flow inside, and the carbon dioxide inside the lungs, cannot leave and stuck inside. Having an asthma attack is similar to the condition when you’re strangled. It is painful and excruciating. Asthma attack can cause the patients lose their ability to breath normally, since the airways are blocked and narrowed. If the airways are not opened, it can cause death. This condition is usually called as an asthma attack. People who suffer asthma usually always bring their asthma inhaler anywhere they go, since asthma attack cannot be predicted. It can happen anytime and anywhere. However, some acute asthma attack cannot be simply ended by using asthma inhaler. Patient needs to be taken to the hospital immediately.
To handle the acute asthma attack, epinephrine is injected inside the patient’s body. Epinephrine can help the airways’ muscle to relax thus will allow the air to flow inside out. Although it is a scary disease, it is still possible to cure and handle asthma. Therapies and drug consumptions are some treatments for asthma.
